Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website

Hi, I am Paulina, an Integrative Counsellor working with adults in the UK and internationally, offering one-to-one online and in-person therapy in Hackney in East London. My approach is flexible and accessible, tailored to suit individual needs and circumstances.

I offer a warm, safe, non-judgemental space where clients feel empowered to explore their inner world, uncover solutions, and grow in self-awareness. I believe that the answers lie within us all, and the therapeutic journey helps to illuminate the path towards healing and transformation.

It is my privilege to support individuals on their path to self-discovery, resilience, and positive transformation. Together, we can work towards a deeper understanding of yourself and a more fulfilling life.

My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities, including person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. This allows me to adapt my client-led, non-directive approach to best support each person’s unique journey.

My practice follows the Petruska Clarkson 5 relational integration framework, which places the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the healing process. I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is fundamental to achieving meaningful change. Every client is unique and an expert in their own life experiences. My role is to listen to you and offer you a confidential space to process your emotions and experiences, helping you make sense of them and collaboratively helping you move forward in whatever direction feels right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in counselling?

Counselling provides a safe, confidential space to talk about your thoughts and feelings with a trained professional. Together, we explore what’s troubling you and find ways forward that feel right for you.

Will everything I say be kept confidential?

Everything shared in counselling sessions is kept private. This confidentiality is what makes counselling different from talking with friends or family, and it allows you to feel safe and open during weekly sessions.

There are some rare instances where I may not be able to keep total confidentiality. For example, if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others. In those rare cases, the law requires me to inform the appropriate authority. Breaking confidentiality is very rare and if this ever becomes necessary, I will always discuss it with you first.

How do I know you are the right therapist for me?

Finding the right therapist is a personal decision, and the best way to know is to meet and see how it feels.

I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation, either via video call or over the phone, depending on individual preferences. This would be an opportunity for us to meet, get a sense of each other, and have an informal chat about what brings you to therapy, ask any questions you may have, and look at how we could potentially work together.

If we decide to go ahead and book our first session, you can you use this as another opportunity to get a sense of my approach and whether it feels like a good fit for you. You don’t need to feel a deep connection right away, but you should feel comfortable, understood, and safe enough to speak openly. That sense of trust and ease is often the best sign we are a good match. There is no obligation to continue afterwards; many people find that having one initial session helps them decide more clearly. From there, you can decide whether ongoing therapy with me feels right for you.

Do you work with insurance companies?

Unfortunately I don’t currently work with insurance companies.

How long will I need to have counselling for?

The length of counselling varies for each client and depends on the issues being explored. Some clients find that just a few sessions help them gain clarity and feel ready to move forward, while others benefit from a longer, more open-ended process.

Before starting, we could agree on a set number of sessions and review progress together as we go along or we could start on an on-going basis.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

I aim to offer a free 15-minute initial consultation within 1 week, which can be either via video call or over the phone, depending on individual preferences.

After that, and if we decide we would like to work together, we’ll agree on a regular weekly time that suits you and fits with my availability. How quickly your sessions can begin will depend on when a suitable time slot becomes available, usually within 1-2 weeks.

What happens if I decide to stop therapy?

Clients can end therapy whenever they feel it is right for them, it is important though to discuss this during our sessions and plan accordingly.

Will talking about difficult things make me feel worse?

It’s natural to worry that opening up might stir uncomfortable feelings. Sometimes exploring painful experiences can feel intense at first, but you won’t be doing it alone. I’ll be there to support you through it, and together we’ll work at a pace that feels safe and manageable. From my experience most clients find that talking things through brings clarity, relief and a renewed sense of strength.
